Parent Child Resource Center - Michael Wynne The Parent Child Resource Center provides services to children with significant behavioral and emotional problems and their parents, so that the children and their families can lead happier, more productive lives. PCRC services include screening, assessment, information and referral, early intervention, individual and family treatment, case management, supportive services and consultation and training. Valley United Way funds help supplement state, local government, foundation, and program funds, ensuring that no one will be turned away for inability to pay for services. These funds also help support new program development in cases where unmet community needs are identified. Starting at a very young age, we provide consultation and training to child-care providers in the community, so children with behavioral health problems are identified and served, increasing the likelihood that these children will do better in school. As children encounter serious behavioral or emotional problems, or suffer trauma, abuse or neglect, we work with them and their families to identify and resolve the problems. Without help, children will continue to suffer emotionally and not do as well in school. With help, children can lead happier lives with better outcomes. We help parents of children with serious emotional and behavioral problems learn to deal with the problems of their children in a more positive and corrective manner, increasing the possibility that their children will lead happier lives. As a result of two different Early Childhood programs that work with both program staff and children, children are no longer being expelled from day-care programs because of their behaviors. Thanks to the Rapid Response program, 93% of seventy-five children seen in urgent or crisis situations were successfully diverted from hospital emergency departments. |
