The National Association of Letter Carriers, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, conducted another huge food drive on Saturday, May 11, to help needy families across the Valley and across the country.

Valley United Way and members of its Youth Leadership Program once again assisted in this worthwhile effort which marked its 10^th year in 2002. United Way Executive Director Jack Walsh praised local letter carriers and postal officials for the tremendous job that they do in conducting the largest single day food collection in the Valley. He said, "Their efforts are especially timely as most people think of the need for food drives during the holidays, but at this time of year, the food banks really begin to feel the need. United Ways all across the country participate in this effort, and we are especially pleased at the support provided by students in our Youth Leadership Program".
