Champs Again!!

 

United Illuminating is the champion of the Corporate Cup Bowling Tournament for the fourth straight year and the fifth time in six years, but they had to come up with a spectacular last game to climb from fourth place to the championship. U.I. was in fourth place and 23 pins behind first place Tele-Media #1 at the end of the second game. However, Glen Varney rolled a sensational tournament high game of 258 and Jim Varney posted a 193 to go along with a 178 from Tony Sanchez and a 162 from Jim Potter on the way to a 791 final game and a 76 pin victory over Tele-Media #1. Tele-Media rolled a very respectable 692 last game, but still fell to second with a total pin fall of 2032.

 

Plastic Molding Technology bowled well all day and finished third at 2007 which was 20 pins better than fourth place Gordon Rubber. The Griffin Powerballs rounded out the top five and emerged as the top team from Griffin Hospital whose teams finished 5, 6, 7 in the standings.
